Some people like a supplement that does one thing. Others would rather have one bottle that covers a lot of ground. NeuroZoom is firmly in the second camp. The company calls it a "35-in-1 memory essential formula," and it combines everyday vitamins and minerals with several of the best known brain support ingredients.
The aim, according to the company, is to support memory, focus and mental clarity as you get older.
What's in the bottle
The ingredient list is long, so I've sorted it into groups.
Brain support classics: bacopa, phosphatidylserine, huperzine A, choline, DMAE, DHA, GABA, N-acetyl L-tyrosine, inositol, glutamic acid and L-glutamine.
Vitamins: vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B5, vitamin B6 and biotin.
Minerals: selenium, zinc, magnesium, calcium, iron, manganese, chromium, boron, molybdenum and vanadyl sulfate.
Plant extracts: green tea, olive leaf, licorice root, bilberry, cinnamon bark and grapefruit seed extract.
The page lists 35 names but no amounts, so a research level bacopa dose (about 300 mg) and a sprinkle look identical.
The names that stand out
Bacopa is probably the most researched herb for memory. It's been part of Ayurvedic practice for centuries, and modern studies have looked at it for recall and learning. Phosphatidylserine is a fat that's naturally concentrated in brain cell membranes, and it's a common ingredient in memory supplements for older adults. Huperzine A comes from a Chinese club moss and helps the brain hold on to acetylcholine, a messenger involved in memory. DHA is the omega 3 fat your brain uses most.
Choline and DMAE are both related to acetylcholine too, so the formula has a clear theme running through it. The antioxidant vitamins and minerals, such as selenium, vitamin E and vitamin C, are there to help protect cells from everyday oxidative stress, which the company ties to brain aging.
Bilberry and olive leaf are worth a quick mention as well. Both are rich in plant antioxidants, and bilberry has a long history in European folk use. What I like about this approach is the convenience. Instead of buying a B complex, a mineral formula, a bacopa capsule and a phosphatidylserine product separately, you get them together.
I'd also mention that the formula covers a lot of what a basic multivitamin does, so you may be able to simplify your supplement shelf rather than add to it. Worth checking your current bottles before you order.
The company's angle
The sales page puts a lot of weight on protecting the brain from environmental stressors, and it explains how individual nutrients like selenium and vitamin E fit into that. It's an interesting perspective, and it gives each ingredient a clear job in the formula.
Bundles and refund
Current packs start at two bottles:
Two bottles: $158 ($79 each), plus a small shipping fee
Three bottles: $177 ($59 each), free US shipping and two ebooks
Six bottles: $294 ($49 each), free US shipping and two ebooks
The three bottle pack is the sweet spot for me, since it drops the price to $59 a bottle and includes the bonuses. ClickBank handles checkout, and every order comes with a 60 day money back guarantee. Keep your packing slip, since returns go back to the company's warehouse.
Making it part of your day
Memory supplements tend to work best as part of a bigger picture: good sleep, regular movement, social time and things that keep your mind busy, like reading, puzzles or learning something new. Taking NeuroZoom with breakfast makes it easy to remember, which is a little ironic for a memory formula, but it works.
Because the formula includes huperzine A and licorice root, check with your doctor first if you take medication for memory, glaucoma or blood pressure, or have surgery coming up. Huperzine A works like some prescription dementia drugs and shouldn't be combined with medicine for Alzheimer's, glaucoma or myasthenia gravis without a doctor's okay, and NeuroZoom isn't for pregnancy or nursing. If memory changes are new or getting worse, see a doctor first.
