Reading glasses on the nightstand, a squint at the menu in a dim restaurant, headlights that seem brighter than they used to. Sound familiar? Vision 20 is aimed squarely at those everyday moments.
It's one of the longer-running eye supplements on ClickBank, made by Zenith Labs and presented by its medical research director, Dr. Ryan Shelton. The company says it's designed to support sharp near and far vision, better low-light vision and healthy eyes as you age, all from one capsule a day.
The posted label
The FAQ points you to the product label for the full ingredient list. That label, posted on the site, shows one capsule per serving and 30 capsules per bottle:
Zinc (as zinc citrate): 50 mg
Copper (as copper citrate): 1 mg
Bilberry fruit extract: 160 mg
Ginkgo biloba leaf extract: 160 mg
Maritime pine bark extract (95% proanthocyanidins): 150 mg
Lutein: 20 mg
Lycopene: 20 mg
Astaxanthin powder: 12 mg
Zeaxanthin: 4 mg
The sales page and the posted "sample" label don't list the same ingredients: five ingredients the page talks up, including beta carotene, are missing from the label, and ginkgo, pine bark, copper and astaxanthin appear only on the label. The label also gives a different company address, so read the bottle you receive before you start taking it.
What stood out to me
The lutein and zeaxanthin amounts. These two yellow pigments gather in the macula, the part of the retina that gives you sharp central vision, and they're the stars of the well-known AREDS2 eye study from the US National Eye Institute. That study used 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin a day. Vision 20's label lists 20 mg and 4 mg, twice as much. The lutein is a branded extract, LuteMax 2020, which points to a standardized ingredient.
That's a generous, well-dosed core, and it's more than most eye products I've reviewed.
Bilberry at 160 mg is a solid amount of the berry that's long been linked with night vision. Maritime pine bark is rich in proanthocyanidins, antioxidants that are popular for healthy circulation, and ginkgo is another circulation favorite. Lycopene, the red pigment from tomatoes, and astaxanthin, the pink antioxidant found in salmon, round things out.
Zinc and copper come as a pair, which I like to see. Zinc helps move vitamin A to the retina, and copper keeps your mineral balance in check.
One capsule, with food
One capsule a day. Lutein and zeaxanthin build up in your eyes over time, so think of Vision 20 as a long-term habit. Take it with a meal that has a bit of fat, since carotenoids absorb better that way.
Six-pack savings
1 bottle: $59, plus $9.95 US shipping
3 bottles: $147 ($49 each), plus $9.95 shipping, with two digital ebooks
6 bottles: $198 ($33 each), with free US shipping and two digital ebooks
At $33 a bottle, the six-pack is very good value for 20 mg of lutein a day. ClickBank handles the order.
A long, no-questions guarantee
Zenith offers a 180-day, no-questions-asked money-back guarantee. Six months is plenty of time for the carotenoids to build up and for you to decide how you feel about it.
One thing to check with your doctor
The label lists 50 mg of zinc, which is on the higher side for daily use, and ginkgo, which can add to the effect of blood thinners. If you already take a multivitamin with zinc, or you're on warfarin or daily aspirin, have a quick word with your doctor first. Anyone with a diagnosed eye condition should run it past their eye doctor too.
Clearer days ahead
Vision 20 pairs a strong lutein and zeaxanthin dose with bilberry, pine bark and a balanced zinc-and-copper base, at a price that drops to $33 a bottle. Add sunglasses, leafy greens and regular eye exams, and you've got a sensible plan for your eyes.
The page's "restore your aging vision" line goes further than the evidence: carotenoids may help protect the macula over time, but they don't reverse the age related near focus change that sends most of us to reading glasses. The Harvard research it quotes looked at diet, not this product.
Vision 20 is sold through Zenith Labs' official page.
