Finessa review: a morning gut powder with probiotics, fiber and fruit polyphenols

Finessa combines fiber, a multi-strain probiotic with Akkermansia, and fruit, gut and liver herb blends in one morning scoop, with 50 servings per container.

Finessa is a powdered digestive supplement you stir into a drink each morning. The sales page describes it as "digestive health support" built from probiotics, prebiotics and liver-friendly herbs.

What makes Finessa easy to like is that the page includes a real supplement facts panel. You can see what's in the scoop, blend by blend.

That matters with a gut product, because "probiotics and herbs" can mean almost anything. Here you get the blend sizes, the probiotic count, the bacteria families and even the base and sweetener. It's the kind of label I wish every gut powder had.

Four blends in one scoop

One scoop, with 50 servings per container, contains:

  • Polyphenol blend, 1,000 mg: beet root, black currant, pomegranate, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, blueberry, purple carrot and acai

  • Gut health blend, 755 mg: cinnamon, ginger, cascara sagrada, deglycyrrhizinated licorice and fructooligosaccharides

  • Liver health blend, 450 mg: dandelion, turmeric, milk thistle, artichoke extract and silymarin

  • Probiotic blend, 52.5 mg: 5 billion CFU at manufacture, with Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Bacillus coagulans and Clostridium butyricum strains, plus 2 mg of Akkermansia muciniphila

The base is resistant dextrin, a soluble fiber, with stevia and natural flavors.

The highlights

The polyphenol blend reads like a farmers market: nine colorful fruits and vegetables, from black currant to acai. Polyphenols are the plant compounds that give berries their deep colors, and your gut bacteria love them.

The probiotic side is a well-chosen mix. Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium are the classic probiotic families, Bacillus coagulans is a hardy spore-forming strain, and Clostridium butyricum is known for producing butyrate, a fatty acid that feeds the cells lining your colon. Then there's Akkermansia, one of the most talked-about gut bacteria in recent years. It's not common to see it in a consumer powder, and it caught my eye.

I also like the choice of deglycyrrhizinated licorice, or DGL. It's a form of licorice with the compound responsible for raising blood pressure taken out, which is a thoughtful detail.

The liver blend brings in dandelion, milk thistle and artichoke, three traditional favorites for digestion. And the resistant dextrin base plus FOS adds gentle fiber, which can help with regularity on its own. Resistant dextrin dissolves easily and has very little taste, so it doesn't turn your morning drink into sludge, which anyone who's tried a gritty fiber powder will appreciate.

Easing in

Starting several fibers and probiotics at once can cause a bit of gas or bloating in the first week or two. Beginning with half a scoop and working up is an easy way to let your gut adjust. That's my suggestion, not the company's.

Great value per serving

  • One container: $59, plus shipping

  • Three containers: $147, or $49 each, plus shipping

  • Six containers: $234, or $39 each, with free US shipping

Here's the nice surprise. With 50 servings per container, a tub lasts well over a month at one scoop a day. That brings the cost to roughly $1.20 a serving at the single-tub price and under 80 cents with the six-pack.

The guarantee runs 180 days, and ClickBank is the retailer.

Who'll enjoy it

Finessa suits someone who wants a single morning powder with fiber, a broad probiotic and fruit polyphenols, and who likes seeing the blends listed on the label. If you'd rather make one drink than juggle a probiotic, a fiber supplement and a greens powder, it's a tidy solution.

The gut blend includes cascara sagrada, a stimulant laxative. The FDA removed it from over the counter laxatives in 2002 because makers didn't submit the safety and effectiveness data it asked for, and long term use of stimulant laxatives can cause cramping, diarrhea and electrolyte problems. So treat Finessa as a short term or occasional product, and if you notice loose stools or cramping, stop. It's best skipped during pregnancy or breastfeeding and by anyone with a bowel condition, and if you take a blood thinner, mention the turmeric to your doctor.
